What is banding?
Smart, sustainable, and efficient packaging
Banding is a packaging solution in which one or more products are securely wrapped with a printed or unprinted band made of paper or film. This technique offers an efficient and sustainable way to bundle products in a tamper-evident manner, while also providing strong opportunities for brand visibility.

How does banding work?
The magic of banding happens with specially designed banding machines. Here's how it works:
- Place your product - Depending on the machine type, products are placed inside the banding machine’s arch, either manually or automatically.
- The band wraps around - The banding arch guides a strip of paper or film around the product and seals it at optimal tension.
- Remove your product - The perfectly packaged product is manually or automatically removed from the arch.

The need for smarter, sustainable packaging
Packaging is undergoing a transformation. With regulations like the European PPWR (Packaging and Packaging Waste Regulation) aiming to reduce waste and pollution, the industry can no longer operate as it once did.
Here’s how banding meets current packaging regulations:
- Reduce packaging material usage significantly.
- Supports a circular economy with mono packaging.
- Recycle packaging with ease.
- Use bands made from sustainable packaging materials.
